Biography
John Chu is the Founder and Chief Executive of the Centro Group of companies, including Centro Digital Pictures in Hong Kong. He is one of the most respected and leading figures in the advancement of landmark digital entertainment for the Asian and international markets.
As a young man, Chu's expertise and creative abilities were nutured and inspired through the guidance of his Shanghainese father, Mr. Yuk Hwa Chu, a pioneer in the development of the Chinese motion picture industry.
Responsible for establishing the earliest film studios in Hong Kong, the entire Chu family has been influential in the direction and success of media for Hong Kong.
After graduating in cinematography from Rome's acclaimed Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, Chu returned to Hong Kong in the early 70's to make his mark in it'r rapidly growing entertainment industry. He returned with a vision to offer Hong Kong, and the region, a standard of excellence, quality and innovation that would match or surpass those established internationally. With successes in television and the music business over the next decade, Chu turned his attention towards creating a company that would unite the most advanced media production technologies with excellence in creativity: Centro Digital Pictures. With 13 years of growth and investment, Centro's business activities today encompass digital post production, broadcast services, interactive multimedia services, attraction entertainment, visual effects for feature film and feature film productions.
