Is it likely that Pai Ying made his first screen appearance at the age of 8, playing an apparently female role, afterward appearing in nothing for nearly 20 years ?

Sorry for butting in here but I think this Pai Ying not likely to have been associated with HK Cantonese cinema or have even been speaking Cantonese (film shoots were all sync sound then). He was either a kid born and raised in Taiwan or enroute to Taiwan in his Mainland parents' expatriating arms.
