DB Title Addition: EXFERNAL AFFAIRS (2001?) Credits, Pix

Another $2 bargain bin find. The title card on this is an obvious insert, meant to cash in on INFERNAL AFFAIRS, even though "EXFERNAL" is not a real word.

I'm guessing this is from 2001 or 2002, as Lily Chung was in a few Phillip Ko Fei movies at that time, although the whole production style, as well as the dodgy look of the film stock, makes this look like it was shot about 10 years earlier. I think the only real identifiers, for me at least, were the small size of the cel phones and the style of the sunglasses that everybody seems to wear at some point!

This is the hero of the movie, but I'm not sure if this is Gilbert Lam Wai-san, who is credited on the front of the sleeve, as the DB has no pictures in his entry. If this ISN'T Gilbert Lam, then this guy...

Of course, that means the guy who actually stars in this movie goes uncredited, as far as I can tell. Which is too bad, as he's a decent actor and I don't think I've seen him in many other movies. Gilbert Lam's in this for all of three minutes and gets top billing!

He's mostly seen on TV so many people here in HK should able to tell his name.

BTW, do you aware that they write Lily Chung's Chinese name differently on the cover (鍾淑慧) and in the film (鐘淑慧)?

This wouldn't be the first time I've seen something like this . I think it might just be the habit of cheap VCD companies releasing cheap movies like this one. Sometimes the lead actor isn't as well known as the "name" actor hired for a few minutes of screentime (like Gilbert Lam, in this case), so the "name" actor gets a credit, while the star of the show does not. I'm fairly certain that Phillip Ko didn't shoot this with the title EXFERNAL AFFAIRS either, so I guess it's no surprise that the VCD company just threw it out there with only the most recognizable faces given credit.

In fact, Lily Chung's part in this is actually smaller than the other girl, who appears throughout the movie. Both of them get to fight at the end (well, flail their arms at the bad guys and kick them in the groin, actually)

So basically the lead actor and actress are unknown entities at the moment!

Didn't catch that! But again, I'm not too surprised given the "messy" nature of this whole release.

That wouldn't surprise me. I don't recall this film even having end credits. Just a "The End" title and nothing else. I'll double check later, just to be safe, but this is something I've noticed in quite a few of these low-budget flicks: no end credits! Either that, or the VCD makers simply chop them off to save space!
