role name mistakes (Kidnap,...)

Postby Michael Kistner » Mon Jan 31, 2005 1:14 pm

In the last few weeks I noticed many wrong role names at movies I had updated before (the most are Shaw Brothers productions).

A few examples (I correted already all mistakes):

Kidnap:
Chui Ga Lam (a child actor) plays no prison guard.
Hoh Gong (2) plays a prison guard and no friend.

Apartment for Ladies:
Yee Kwan (2) plays no manager, he only appear brief at an early scene.

Knight of Knights:
Chiu Hung plays no bodyguard, he plays one of the murdered men at the first action scene.

Golden Sword:
Ng Wai (2) plays a female of the beggar clan and no man.

Swordmates:
Lee Hang is not the oldest Liu brother, he is only an extra.

Mr. Funnybone strikes again:
Wang Han Chen plays the hospital director and Gam Gwan the dentist.

Murders made to Order:
Cheung Wing Cheung (2) plays a thug at the two last action scenes and not Hung, the triad.

Please add only actors and role names you are all sure with.

Again someone added wrong role names to Shaw Brothers movies:

Human Goddess:
Hoh Ban plays a doctor and no playboy.
Ng Wai plays no fairy, she is one of the party guests.

Angel strikes again:
Chiu Hung plays "Hercules" and not Lee Ho.

I added the correct role names.
Also corrected role names at "Trail of the Broken Blade" and "Sentimental Swordsman".

Hi Michael,

Just saw your message. The culprit is me. Sorry for the mistakes. I will be more careful. My enthuasism has got the better of me. My signature updates have relationship or other helpful identifier in brackets. I believe you have a better picture database than I especially for shaw movies. Please accept my sincere apologies for causing you so much frustration and unnneccessary amending works. I wd be angry in your position.

However, there is one problem i cd not amend if i want to. That is, i have updated a lot of shaw movies and am sure that i have make mistakes in updating them. Although, i kept hard copy of my updates, listing all the titles wd be time consuming. If you came across any mistakes i make, i wd be most happy if you cd highlight them on the forum so that i cd learn from them.

Once again, please accept my sincere apologies.

I'm not angry with you. We all make sometimes mistakes.
If I find more mistakes I post them at the forum.

Hong Kong Rhapsody:

Corrected that mistakes:
Ng Wai plays not Fu's servant (played by an unknown old actress, I've seen her in a few other movies). Ng Wai plays one of the party guests. In "Human Goddess" Ng Wai is one of the unfriendly female party guests.

Chow Siu Loi is not one of the party guests and is not in the movie. There is another bald/almost bald actor in the scene. I've seen him in many Shaw movies as extra in crowds,...
I hope the "Wedding Song" credit of Chow Siu Loi is correct. Chow's roles are almost all action roles. I don't have the movie.

Inheritor of Kung Fu (73):
Someone added John Ladalski to that movie. But he is in the 1981 movie with the same name! Corrected. I have both movies.

Michael, did you review the editor log to see who made these changes, if any?

Hi Guilao and Michael,

Is me again who updated the HK Rhapsody. Those two actors updated are based on photos i have compiled.

I believe both of you are the experts on this and, if you say there is a mistake, I apologies for it.

Honestly, i have been extra careful in matching faces. Wd not update unless i am 100% sure.

However, I believe there are past mistakes you have not discovered yet.
So sorry for troubling you all.
