Kuo Choi/Phillip Kwok

For some reason I think this guy's Chinese name is different than what we have. In "House of Traps", if I'm not mistaking, his name is displayed as "Guo Zhui" in Chinese. Now, just to make sure I'm not totally off track here, this is the same guy who played the drunken guy in KID WITH THE GOLDEN ARM and the thief/protector in HOUSE OF TRAPS, right?

And also I think Lu Feng is in "House of Traps" as well...

Guo Zhui/Kuo Chui is Phillip Kwok. Yes, he is the drunken guy, Agent Hai To in KID WITH THE GOLDEN ARM.

Silver Fox

Well if his name is indeed Guo Zhui, then I'm not sure where "Guo Zhen Feng" came from (official name on his bio page here). My suspicion aroused when I saw this 3-character name because nearly all venoms and even most kung fu actors working for Shaw Bros in that era has really weird names; names that just don't sound right in Chinese. On the contarery, Guo Zhen Feng is a perfectly fine name, which would in turn make Kuo Choi not suitable for a venom ;)

If you can read Chinese, I just uploaded from a Taiwanese mag something about Kuo Chui, I mean the guy is Taiwanese. Again, just about every Shaw flick has him as Kuo Chui, then again, Kuo Chui might be his "stage" name. Guo Zhen Feng might be his real name--that's my speculation.
On another note, I think Lo Meng might be his stage name too. In MASKED PROSECUTOR, he goes by the credited name: Law Kwan Lam.

Silver Fox

Yeah, I think it makes the most sense to assume that most of these old school actors have psydonems. I mean, Wang Yu is a standard Chinese name; Fu Sheng is NOT.

I just went back and watched "Hard Boiled" again last night. Unfortunately I only have the Orion Home Video release which doesn't display Kuo Choi's real name in Chinese (he is in the movie BTW). So Guo Zheng Feng could be right.

Fu Sheng's real name is Cheung Fu Sheng. He has a brother, who was in a few flicks, his name is Cheung Chin Pang.

Silver Fox
