Lo Lieh in "Deadly Roulette"

Postby calros » Tue Sep 22, 2020 12:17 pm

In our DB he is listed as an actor and cinematographer (his only credit in this job) of this movie.
According to the English poster, Lo is co-director of the movie.

I suspect the job of cinematographer has been mistook with the job of director.
If nobody stops me in 15 days I will change the jobs.

Yes, it is not likely that Lo Lieh did a cinematography job here.
I would say, he never ever did that for any movie.

I checked my VHS tape which is an early Ocean Shores widescreen
PAL version in English. That version is based on the Korean print.

There are already two credit images uploaded in the credits section,
I will complete these images soon from my tape doing screenshots
of the credits. The show that the cinematography man is someone else.
But I am not an expert in Korean casts.

Hard to say if Lo Lieh really did some co-directing or
weather his name was put on the poster for marketing reasons.
Maybe he really helped out with some scenes in Korea
directing them. Best guess.

I just have uploaded an original lobby card for DEADLY ROULETTE

http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/image_detail ... ay_set=eng

and also for the companion piece THE RIVAL.

The cinematographer is on them – with both it is the same person.
Of course, no "Lo Lieh" there for cinematography.

As DEADLY KICK is rather the English version's title (US VHS) for THE RIVAL,
due to consistency, I would suggest "The Rival" as the main entry.

Added prod. co., pres. and 3 actors.
Music from "The Rival" is not Kim Kee-Ung but Kim Heui-Kap. If nobody stops me in 15 days I will change them.

If nobody stops me in 15 days I will change the main title by "The Rival"
