Alias delete wish

Postby Oliver Sodemann » Tue Aug 18, 2020 5:49 pm

Here we go with another movie ...

http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?i ... ay_set=eng

that has a soooo obviously wrong (or better: useless) alias
showing simply some misspelling or missrecognizing from some unsharp VHS tapes
or some wrong internet quotation or hearsay, whatsoever.

"Bold ..." here is nonsense, as the Chinese character says "cold".

As I cannot just delete them without announcing each time – but thus taking too much
of my time here –, I will not care about these mistakes anymore. Leaving them
as they are.

So, I (capital) will NOT delete it.

Please, some other editor, do it, after 10 or 15 days.

I am not a "time-tabeler", so this would take more of my time too,
for sheer bureaucracy, to check each forum post and when the time
has come to be allowed to delete it.

Please understand.
Thanks.

What intrigues me more is the title Showdown at the Cotton Mill. Beyond the US DVD, where the title card was obviously replaced, are there any other sources for it? I didn't do a very in-depth check, but I couldn't find anything to back it up. I found no evidence of a US or HK theatrical release, the title of the Taiwanese release we already know, and the Chinese and English titles of the Singaporean release match the ones on the Thai poster uploaded by Oliver. Even if we were to assume that these two titles stem from a re-titling in either Thailand or Singapore, it seems doubtful that a re-titiling from either territory would also reach the other. The title ???????? comes from a magazine. All of this points to the film's actual title being The Canton Challenge (???????). What does everyone else think?

I think ???????? is the working title.

If nobody stops me in 15 days I will change ??????? by ????????

Many sites say "Bold Face", and I do not know if they copied us or there really are any videotape with this title, so for the time being I will not remove it.

Sorry,
this post was about deleting the "bold"
"Bold Face, Heart & Blood".

I do not interfere with release dates anymore,
as my approach seems to be a little bit different.

I added the two posters, coming from Toby Russell yesterday.
Chang Cheh was involved in this definately. He was credited
in Taiwan newspapers. There are additional infos on the
production Toby doesn't want to have displayed here.

My alias entries were slightly changed since yesterday on that
movie. I am curious: Who did that?

I very consciously separated the "Thai title" and the
"UK title", although being identical. I have my transparency
reasons for that. Is there an Editor's Rule that is against that?

Toby told me about the UK title as a witness when he was young.
I did not have any other indication for that, but then I found
the Thai poster.

Besides I always write "title", not "Title" – if not at the
beginning of a whole sentence (I also comment "original
lobby card" in captions, as this is not a whole sentence
there. As I know, only some words, like countries, are
written with a capital at the beginning).

1)When for example the Canadian title of a movie is the same that the Australian title of a movie, it must not be added 2 same titles. They must be together: "Australian and Canadian Title:" Please don't be redundant.
2)Title, see the example of how must be added an alias.
3)fights, First letter of a verb, always capitalized.

I found that the Thai title is not "The Canton Challenge", but "The Canton Challange".
If nobody stops me in 15 days I will change them.

Sorry, I was away for some time.

Seeing your post, I have just added, as I did the entry, that
"Challange" is just a misspelling on the poster.

About what is redundant or not in some cases,
I have a different oppinion.

I have deleted "Bold Face", as nobody complained.

Calros isn't stating his opinion, he is pointing out to you the rules and guidelines as I have set them. As an editor, you follow the rules and guidelines. They are not optional.

WE DO NOT EVER CORRECT MISSPELLINGS in aliases, titles, or how they appear in primary sources. What is in the source is what we put in the database. This is an elementary concept and should be obvious. And yet I still have to re-explain this to you. I have been more patient with you than with others. But I have now lost all my patience, and I have permanently removed your ability to edit or delete movie aliases and images. In fact, I do not want you tampering with existing information anymore. For now, you can continue to contribute new data and new imagery.

Do not post here about this. Do not email me. From now on, only use this forum to post facts pertaining to films.
