Lui Ming split???

The Lui Ming in "Black Rose" (1965)(updated today the cast) and all other black and white images on the hkmdb (except "Between Tears...") looks in my opinion not like the Lui Ming of all the Shaw Brothers and Taiwan movies:

If you compare the image of "Black Rose" with the images of "Vermillion Door" and "Sons of Good Earth" of the same year you see a big difference!
The only b/w Canto movie I know who it looks like Lui Ming is "Six fingered....". See the image:

Agreed, one has high cheek bones, the other a baby face.

The HKFA lists two 雷鳴, one born in 1921 (Lei Ming,Taiwan), the other in 1927 (Lui Ming,HK). Actually, there's also a third from China with a couple of credits.

The Shaws actor seems to be Lei Ming, the b/w Cantonese actor, Lui Ming.
It looks like Lui Ming also had his own production and distributiion company. (see Crazy Blood, et al)

And I don't know for sure who of the two is the presenter/producer. I don't trust at that matter the HKFA.

Shall we split the two and only add to the b/w actor Lui Ming the movies we know for sure he appear?

No solid evidence can be given, just years of watching B/W movies (粵語長片) on TV during childhood -- I agree to what you stated here.

Wow, you are fast.
As a quick cut, I would guess, based on the cast and language, that Lui Ming The Younger/Babyface would be associated with most of the b/w films in Cantonese. Six Fingers, as noted, would be an exception. Babyface, as I've seen him, primarily worked in light comedies and wenyi dramas. Something like Romance at Sun Moon Lake (1956) a Mandarin musical directed by Mok Hong-See - I usually associate him with Cantonese comedies - is a tricky one. Lui Ming The Elder, being from Taiwan, I would expect to be associated with the Mandarin titles, primarily. (Speaking of the list through the '60s.)

I can search Ten Brothers, Ten Brothers vs The Sea Monster, Romance of the Jade Hall, Prince's Romantic Affairs...once I locate my discs.

[edit] Added some additional screen caps I didn't use originally. Also added some links to his sons in the biz, his given name and some films mentioned in his HKFA bio. And he did do at least one Mandarin film in his early years according to the bio.
