Mai Tak-Lo started studying kung-fu at age 12. He appeared in the action film "To Kill a Mastermind", but did not attract popular notice till after winning Hong Kong's first disco dancing competition in 1979. Nicknamed "Dance King", he placed fourth in an international dance contest and returned to Shaw Brothers for the lead role in "Disco Bumpkins". Between 1981-1985 he starred in another ten SB films, and since then has acted in numeros films and television series. Still remembered for his early glory on the disco floor, he played a character named "Dance King" int he 2002 ATV series "Innocently Guilty".
