This flick is cheap, short, crude, and predictable. I love it.

Summary: a real lousy time

Simon Yam, for a little while there, was playing absurdly insane killers in every other film. While this led to a few enjoyable moments (FULL CONTACT, RUN AND KILL), the downside of such typecasting is that films like this got made.

Basically, the film has an intriguing premise, in which a woman is terrorized by nutty Simon Yam during the course of an evening in her new house. Early in the film, she accidentally throws an apple at her new clothesline, which slices the apple neatly in half! Wow! That doesn't make any sense! I wonder if that bit of obviously placed information will come into play later...

Simon Yam, meanwhile, is always shouting on the phone with his wife, vociferating things like, "Why must you always accompany me?!" over and over again. Sure enough, he's nutty and he wants to kill our protagonist. Or something... It's not quite clear what Simon Yam wants. I guess that's the INSANITY aspect of the film...

Eyes bulging, Simon Yam really hams it up here, but it never seems like he's having a good time. He really appears to be just going through the motions. At least in DR. LAMB he was acting. Here it just seems like someone switched him on overacting autopilot.

By necessity of the plot structure, of course, nothing ever happens in this film. Simon Yam simply terrorizes this girl for about an hour (after a half hour or so of exposition), then the movie comes to its painfully obvious happy ending. He doesn't even terrorize her in any interesting ways. Those hoping for sleazy Hong Kong thrilller antics will be very displeased. This film plays like a college drama class's idea of a Hong Kong thriller. For Simon Yam completists only.
