Reviewed by: sharkeysbar Date: 04/25/2008 Summary: Action packed entertainment This film is great action epic from 1977, it is set in 1937 on the Yangtze river and it pits the Chinese navy against the Japanese navy. The story is quite good about naval commandos taking on the might of the Japanese fleet outside Shanghai. There is plenty of action to match the storyline and great acting all round. In fact the film stars a number of big names and all act quite well together. I enjoyed this film greatly and at a little under two hours in length, the time just flew. The finale fit scene set on the Japanese navy's flagship is very good, chock full of action fights and thrills and the suspense is first class. It is briefly touches on a couple of interesting subjects, things to make you think a little deeper than usual in an action film. Once again, I recommend it fully to anyone who enjoys action films.
