After a decade of wait, the Pang brothers return to the big screen with a bigger, bolder and definately more interesting version of Storm Riders.

Much to my surprise, the lead actors didn't age much at all, however, their acting and team spirit grew way beyond my expectations.

The moderate and great CG effects re ally managed to enhance the movie, unlike the first movie which I somewhat felt, overly done and definately not tastefully done.

With the new addition of strong and powerful cast, Storm Riders are ready to storm the box-office.

Summary: Meh

After over a decade it was a surprise to see a sequel coming out to one of my favourite HK films, The Storm Riders, featuring the 2 original leads... both of whom have thrown off their pretty boy image and grown into quite respected actors in the interim. You wouldn't know that from The Storm Warriors though, since it is shallower than the merest film of water, with a plot that simply leaves you wondering why you should care. Basically it's an exercise in special effects, and it does show the tremendous advancement in local CGI talent that has taken place since the original was released - the quality is fantastic, and the film is often beautiful. But rarely, if ever, interesting - which is a shame.

The sequel to one of the biggest Hong Kong box-office hits of all time, The Storm Warriors is one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the past few years. Sadly, it falls into the same trap of many sequels, and the end product is simply something that isn't anywhere near as good as the original.
