Biography

Chin Han (a.k.a. Bi Ren-Xu)'s family was originally from Shantung Province in China. After he graduated from the New Method College in Hong Kong, he worked for a trading firm. In 1961, he joined Shaw Brothers as an actor. In his 13 year career with Shaw Brothers he made around 20 films, most of them Mandarin classics. He left Shaw Brothers in 1974 and moved to Taiwan to further his film-making business. He returned to Hong Kong the following year to start his own film company, where he directed Crossroad and two Huangmei Opera films (Dream of the Red Chamber and The Imperious Princess), all starring Ivy Ling-Po as the lead actress.
