Summary: Amusing light comedy, with very little action.

This appears to be a made-for-TV movie, since it was shot on video. The film starts very seriously, with Cheng Pei Pei attacking the home of ruler Melvin Wong. She kills him, but loses an arm in the battle. In the next scene, the film shifts into comedy mode, where a man is sad because his wife just gave birth to a girl. His mood reverses, when a twin is also born, a boy. The boy grows up to be lazy and worthless, but because he's a boy he is favored by the father. The girl (Kara Hui) has to do chores, and in her spare time is trained in martial arts by Cheng Pei Pei, who then vanishes until the end of the film. The father wants to get Kara married off, and finds someone interested, but his overweight appearance repulses Kara, and she in turn is unable to properly cook food for him, so the marriage is off. The father, fed up, orders Kara to hang herself, but even that fails, and a friend of Kara's helps her to escape and flee to the big city. She is unable to find work there, until she sees a competition to select imperial guards. She disguises herself as a man and easily defeats all her opponents. Most of the rest of the film concerns her adventures, while she attempts to keep her gender hidden from her associates.

There really isn't much action in the film; the fights are very brief and done in 90's style. But most of the visual comedy works quite well, and the theme of a woman who fails as a "woman" (cooking, etc.) only to find success as a "man" (fighting, etc.) is enjoyable.
