Reviewed by: RLM Date: 05/18/2002 Summary: Lot's of Fun I've got a soft spot in my heart for that magic crane - who flew into a huge bell and sacrificed itself so that good could prevail against evil. With a hero like that, all the other stuff in the film- fantastic swordsplay, martial arts fighting, beautiful locations, and acting that took itself seriosly (despite the fantasy nature of the movie)pale in comparison. Highly recommended 8.5/10

Reviewed by: danton Date: 01/03/2002 Another one of the myriad of fantasy wuxia movies produced in the early nineties, this one directed by Benny Chan and produced by Tsui Hark, starring Tony Leung Chui-Wai, Anita Mui and Rosamund Kwan. This is a decently shot example of this type of movie, and if you like the Swordsman films, The Sword stained with Royal Blood, Green Snake, Bride with white hair, etc., then you'll enjoy this one (despite the cheesy magic crane effects).

The fighting looks amazing, and Anita Mui is very, very, fine! This was another catchy movies I watched way back in China. I enjoyed it then and still do today! [8/10]

Reviewed by: STSH Date: 03/06/2000 Summary: A blast ! Tsui Hark excels at this sort of movie. Wu'xia, flying people, wild characters, duels in the sky. I particularly liked the battles fought for control of the gall bladder of the 1,000 year old fire tortoise, and the flirtatious Lady Jade Flute. Incidentally, the theme song was sung by Anita Mui and Jacky Cheung. Fast, furious and fun. Reviewer Score: 9

Reviewed by: spinali Date: 12/08/1999 Summary: NULL On his way to a congress of kung fu masters, an initiatefalls from a high cliff, only to be rescued by lovely Tien Lam (Anita Mui), who rides a huge (and sorry-looking) crane. The rest of the movie features a battle between warring martial arts factions, an equally fierce rivalry between the two daughters of the Crane Master, the accidental empowerment of an unprincipled master after having eaten half of a secret scroll, a battle with an immense tortoise whose spleeny vapors save a group of poisoned swordsmen, lots of great aerial fights against nearly invincible villains, and the usual blood spurting from assorted mouths.
