The Queen of Gamble

Uneven but sometimes entertaining film which tries to make DoDo Cheng into the God Of Gamblers mould. Many of the same tricks are there, but the result lacks the GoG and Wong Jing's flair and pace. I frankly confess to having no great admiration for DoDo's supposed comic talents, though she is quite a competent straight actor. DoDo continues on the character in the really dreadful Her Fatal Ways series.

From the first scene, this movie tries to set up "The Queen of Gamblers" as the next gambling hero, even comparing her to the God of Gamblers and the Saint of Gamblers. Unfortunately, this movie has no style, and even the great Do Do cannot create a heroine who can compare to the previous gambling icons. A very disappointing movie.

Summary: NULL

A low-rent, surprisingly entertaining twist on HK's popularGod of Gambler ripoffs. Plain Sister Chen (Do Do Chen) is fresh from the PRC on a black market passport; a clumsy stuntman (Aaron Kwok, in an equally rare role as a dweeb); a playboy gambler (Simon Yam); and a kung fu sweetie (Sibelle Hu) combine forces to topple a cheap, swindling investor. What's more, the casino games are played and won by strategy, not magic.
