While the action scenes are somewhat impressive, the overused story made it a dull movie overall.

Summary: The best wushu movie ever made, hands down, end of story

I've watched a lot of martial arts movies, and this movie, hands down, has the best martial arts sequences put on film. All the principle actors involved in the fight scenes are wushu experts and all the action is 100% string free.

A true affianado will notice that the really special feature of this movie is the editing... or lack there of. Rather than following the annoying more recent habit of chopping up the action with lots of quick and confusing cuts, this film has entire 30+ second fight sequences without a cut. The chorreography is pretty inventive and best of all, a lot of the unique and interesting weapons of chinese wushu are used throughout the course of the film (This one had people fighting with rope darts WELL before Jet and Jackie started throwing it in their films)

The story is really quite inconsequencial, as are the characters for the most part... the only reason to watch it is because of the fight sequences... and they are F'in awesome. a MUST for a true fan of Chinese wushu or martial arts in general.
