A thoroughly enjoyable tale of martial arts - a 20 year revenge plot, a jealous rivalry and a Romeo & Juliet romance all bundled together with plenty of blood-letting, Shaw Brothers style.

Summary: Who said chivary is dead?

They dont make movies like this anymore, where the characters have honour and a conscious, loyality to their masters, where being a all round good guy is the way people are suppose to be. Nowadays, we movies have the flawed hero, or a anti hero character, but seeing characters like Lo Lieh plays is refreshing.

As with Shaw bros movies at this time, the action is slow and no one shows any real skill, but its the plot and characters which carry this movie. With a suprising ending this movie is a must see

Summary: What an epic!

I had been waiting for the arrival of this gem which I had been longing for ever since I discovered its existence months ago. And oh my, what a gem it is indeed! The story is excellent, so far the most convincing for any pre-1980 Shaw Bros production I've witnessed so far. The characters develop gorgeously, with hardly any flaw! Great emotional moments too (especially towards the end; I guarentee it to be moving!). I never knew Lo Lieh was so great until now. The only thing that could have been better is the action. Not that there isn't at least 4 or 5 fight scenes, but most of them are among big crowds and no one really demonstrates any skill at all. The action is really slow and basically it didn't exactly have to take a great hero like Lo Lieh to perform. Unfortunately the action is like this in every 60s movie. A lot of common people as the characters really helped this movie rank at the top of the all time Shaw Brother hall of fame!

Yu Chien Ping (Tien Feng) is the master of the 12 DeadlyCoins (an art of coin throwing that can kill). Chiao Mao (Lo Lieh) is one of his disciples (his best disciple). Unfortunately, Yu puts Chiao's rival, Yu Hua, in charge of transporting a load of gold. Bandits kill Yu's men and take the gold and set thing up so that it looks like Chiao did it! With 200,000 taels of gold missing, his wife imprisioned and his bureau closed, Yu sets on to extract revenge on Chiao (with the real villian waiting for him). This is definitely a shaw classic. It has tons of action and suspense (dont worry, its not all coin throwing either). I love the story. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
