Reviewed by: j.crawford Date: 05/12/2012 Summary: Compelling. I've always been a big supporter of cinematographer/director Herman Yau and his films. Always a thought provoking and compelling visual artist, he manages to move effortlessly from genre to genre while delivering solid film-making results. Turning Point is a decent police vs. triad thriller that features Anthony Wong and Francis Ng as two crooks fighting the cops with undercover agents and double agents on both sides. The screenplay here owes a huge debt to the Infernal Affairs films so popular earlier in the last decade. Quirky Wong steals the show with his offbeat performance as a triad boss/drama queen wearing a fedora, a shawl, and lipstick surrounded by beautiful women. Oh, and Yuen Biao plays the top cop in charge of the undercover police. Though not breaking any new material, this movie is well worth your time. Reviewer Score: 7

Reviewed by: mrblue Date: 06/09/2010 A prequel to E.U., one of the most popular television shows in Hong Kong over the past several years, Herman Yau's Turning Point (aka Laughing Gor) isn't anything mind-blowing, but offers up interesting characters, hard-hitting action sequences, and good acting, making it into a solid enough viewing experience -- even if the audience might get a sense of deja vu, especially if they have seen the Infernal Affairs films.
