Blood and Rose (1975)

J.Crawford writes;
I immediately thought this was a derivative title to cash in on Alan Tang in Clarence Ford's Cantonese pistol opera 'Guns n Rose' with Leon Lai, Andy Lau, Carrie Ng & Simon Yam back in 92 but now I believe that film was a title homage to THIS one. So happens I had this one up in a stack to update over at the IMDB as well but I haven't gathered my graphic/published sources yet. This one's difficult because I recall the production being of 'outside' money i.e. a co-production w/HK-Taiwanese actors and in this case Korea. So far I have off the top of my head an unknown Korean female lead, Tina Chin Fei, James Nankung Hsin & other to be named Shaw & Central Pic vets along with your main clue Alan. I also had this one linked with an entry I originated over at IMDB: Yasukoshi Shikamura (aka Lu Chuan ie. 'A Killer's Romance', 'God of Gamblers') for stunt coordination so the title must have some fighting associated with it but I think it's more of a noir-ish drama (when it comes to Alan Tang) over a straight out action flick.
My guess is it's one of dtr Shin Sang Okk's HK titles as his filmography has one big black hole between 1973-1978 over at IMDB and I'm certain that this period was a more prolific one outside of his native Korea than the IMDB implies. Given Alan Tang & the title reference,
survey sez: 玫 瑰 戀
[pinyin: Mei gui lian] [trans: title has a lurid connotation like: 'rose_longing' (heart or deep love, passion, etc); I don't think the 'blood' part plays into the Chinese title (but it sure adds to making it lurid!)]. 1975 sounds about right. In Korean over in Korea; in mandarin with subs at home & worldwide. Not known to have ever been dubbed in English. More to come...(hopefully a scan w/proof if I can sift thru my organized mess).
Here is a handful for you.
Quick Cut without Knife (1974)
Blood and Rose (1975)
Secret of Kowloon Town (1977)
Right Overcomes Might (1978)
Cool
