This name is probably Sawada Kenji, but the first character is missing.
Can anyone confirm ?

(I have PM'd Magic Wong about this).

If this writer isn't a newcomer at all, I'd be more likely to believe it's Sawada Kenya, since he's been more active in the Hong Kong industry off an on over the years. Kenji seems rather unlikely. ;)

1. The personal names don't match.
2. The conventional reading of the personal name on "Sawada" is Kenji.

However, that one is the alternate name of the other cannot be ruled out.
Anyone have proof either way ?

But we are talking about two separate people, right? Despite conventional readings, KenYA has been billed as such in English in most of his Hong Kong movie appearances. KenJI hasn't had any connection to the HK film industry that I know of.

I just have difficulty believing that the "other" Kenji (well, to me the only one, really), a nearly 60-year old Japanese pop musician (and sometime actor) would suddenly start writing Hong Kong movies. And yes, I'm aware that anything's possible, but I'll see what I can find.

My suspicions, for the record, are that this Sawada chap is a newcomer, like this fellow, perchance...

Yes, it looks very much like two separate people

If that alias is correct, then "Sawada" and Zexin should be merged.

And to add to the evidence, here is Magic Wong's reply to my query :

i think Sawada (田研二) and Zexin (田彥二) are the same writer. Both worked with Herman Yau.
