Well having grown up in the States, I've always known her as Shirley Yamaguchi until lately when I found her to be another luminary who passed thru the Shaw studio portals which brings to mind the issue: what is the rule for representing the 'default' primary name when it comes to cross-cultural personalities here in the HKMDB? Is it the birth name (which seems logical) by nationality or her popular stage name as she mostly appears as in HK related productions? You can see that this may be as political an issue now as it was back in her Shanghai days and applicable to any of her many other country bethren in the Chinese entertainment industry back in then.
So should 'Li Xianglan' be THE definitive top-shelf moniker (& not any of the others) for her here? Likewise should 'Tadashi Nishimoto' stand above Ho Lan Shan (most known in HK but not his real name), 'Yukio Miyaki' over Kung Mu To (most known to his following), Joyce Godenzi (as known per well her Miss HK pageant title being true to her nationality) over 'Kao Li Hung' (as I think it does), 'Nankung Hsun' (as known when he started out) contrary to 'James Nam Gung-Fan' has headlined, Yusuaki Kurata over well, Yasuaki Kurata (since he's rarely used a stage alias in his time), etc? So what's the rule?
