I've been thinking about my credit-uploads in DB and I feel alittle bad about it in a way. Would perhaps be better if I used my photobucket-account more for the credits from now on?

The reason for my DB-uploading regarding credits.. well, I guess I can call it being lazy as it's much faster than using photobucket links in the forums :roll:

, I dunno how much harm it is and no one commented it, but I know it's somewhat disturbing perhaps if someone wanna look at cool posters and actor-gallerys instead of scrolling trough a whole bunch of credits before that.

The reason I upload them to the database servers is that I thought it was mentioned that we would evetually have a seperate image section for credits, apart from the portraits and such. If I'm mistaken about this then maybe your suggestion is a good one.

I do think that a seperate credit section is a good idea though.Young Master is right, they tend to clutter up the portrait and screen shot page a bit

That's odd... the main reason I use photobucket is because it's much faster than uploading each image to the DB individually :shock:

Since you can load up to 19 images in one go (never understood how they came up with 19 as the max), and have it generate the IMG tags for them automatically, it seems much quicker to do it that way.

As far as I'm aware we do still plan to have a special "Credit Grab" attribute for images, and have them displayed on a separate page to the portraits and stills, so uploading them to the DB is fine... as long as you'll remember what you've uploaded to go through and set the "credit" attribute when it's ready ;-)

Personally I'm happier posting through photobucket for now, with the knowledge I'll have lots of editor points waiting when we can properly upload them here :-D

I only spoke for myself actually because I was getting quite frustrated for a while with the cut & paste teqnuice which is the main-part why I chosed therafter to begin uploading credits in the DB instead. yeah... I got bored so I imagined it was a some seconds faster.

Im a changed man now however, I have no trouble in cut & paste anymore. Let's call it the Godfrey Ho-uploading (sorry..not funny i know, but I had to). The credit-page in DB would be nice btw, (DB-uploading is quite a fast way to add credits as well.. when the DB responds quickly)

Personally, I find the credit grabs to be irritating clutter when they're posted in the image galleries rather than the forums, especially if they're taken from VCDs or VHS transfers. I've been thinking of mentioning this for a while now, but I never knew how to broach the subject! Once the credits have been updated based on the grabs, they should, in theory at least, be of little use anymore, and it's unlikely we'd every have credit grabs for EVERY film in the DB, or the manpower or time to pull it off.

The only credit grab that SHOULD be added to the galleries is the opening title only, since some of those are quite beautiful in and of themselves (plus "collecting" opening title cards for movies seems to be popular elsewhere on the web these days.._

Well, information does get lost in the uploading (the exact spelling or alias used), and mistakes do sometimes get made. If we discover we've wrongly merged two people, for instance, it would be a lot easier to fix if we had the original credits to refer to... plus if we add new jobs, it'll be easier to update existing films if the credits are there.

But yeah, it looks kind of crappy having them in the images, unless it's a particularly cool credit sequence :-)

Good points. Any chance they could at least be assigned to a gallery of their own, that could be accessed via a "credit images" link underneath the "images" link to keep them from cluttering up some damn fine image galleries?

I've tried their their "Flock"-software which should be able to choose every image you want to upload in one go as well, plus uploading perhaps? Well, it never worked for me though

, keeps saying my images are invalid.

Actually after posting that I went to upload some credit grabs and saw they've now changed their UI to add 20 in one go. I saw the stuff about Flock too, but it didn't seem worth the trouble/risk of installing a new browser to be able to upload them quicker...
