Hey FYI guys, howzabout revising the genre on this title.

A clue: for pre-1964 Shaw films, 'martial arts' are usually NOT a default genre for an unknown title.

Plot elements: handsome Jazz trumpeteer (Paul Chang Chung), cute little boy child-prodigy hoofer (Fei Li) w/dreams, a dance gig & an ailing mother (Li Hsiang Chun). This niteclub version of Zefferielli's 'The Champ' is a B&W Doe Ching weepy that's definitely not a martial arts film.

Cheers.

Changed to "drama".

:?:

Is there enough music in the film to call it a "musical"?

Drama or musical

I don't think so. Like 'Pink Tears' or 'Song of Tomorrow', it has music numbers in them but it's more accurate as drama or melodrama.

Go to town boys. Credits are all there on the bottom band. It's one of the oldest stills I have in my collection. Image
A great location shot of child actor Fei Li & father figure Paul Chang Chung traversing the stairs.

Added prod. manager. May we use your lobby card as poster of the movie?
