This actress died of brain cnancer in 1999. Like her acting.

Cd anyone confirm her chinese name as some sites list her as kan wai ling and some as kan wai jan. Cd the following be the same person?

Kan Wai-Ling / (簡慧玲) (1974)

Regina Kent / (簡慧珍) (1985 - 1992)

(A search of Regina Kent in Google will throw up these 2 names)

The mystery of Regina...as I used to work with her cousin, and his surname was Kent (and that's what it said on his Australian driver's licence; which it wouldn't legally have been allowed to if it was anything else), I always referred to them as the Kents, and Jono referred to his cousin as Ginny*.

I'm sure someone will pop along and dispute me, but having worked with her direct cousin for twelve months, I think I know what I'm talking about. ;)

* I was going to write a little retrospective on her career, based upon personal anecdotes I had been imparted and my own personal research, for one of the three Hong Kong film magazines I was writing for at the time of her passing -- but the family strictly forbid me from doing so. They were very protective of Regina and wished to keep the whole matter private; the only thing I can share is that she suffered for some time from her illness, and it wasn't the sudden diagnosis many thought it was. :(

White Dragon,

I am sad that she has suffered. Please accept my apology for bringing this query up. :(

A search in hkmdb on 簡慧玲 brings up 簡慧珍 as one of two matches, despite 簡慧玲 not being entered as an alias of 簡慧珍. Could this be something like the case insensitivity of big5 searches ? If so, perhaps this effect is also acting in the Google search, causing a false positive result.

No worries William, I only worked with Regina's cousin, and he was quite sensitive about her illness and discussing it. I never knew Regina directly. As I said, I was strictly forbidden from doing any retrospective writeups about her career, or divulging personal stories about her work in the industry after her passing -- and I have respected those wishes to this day.
