Accoording to our dictionary (printed in Beijing) Shao Lin of the Shao Lin Temple is Shao4 Lin2 (young forest) not Shao3 Lin2 (small forest).

The results with a google websearch on "shao3 lin2 si4" gives 33 hits, with "shao4 lin2 si4": 88.

{This kind of mistakes (and all those other I've found earlier) can be made with the transcriptions with names too, but sometimes it will be very hard to find out which transcription is right.}

Actually it is virtually impossible to know without the person in question telling you how it is pronounced.
