Dang Chi Fung = Patrick Dann

Does anyone object to me changing Dang Chi Fung's primary name to that which he is most commonly accredited as: Patrick Dann? None of the films I have with him in them on DVD credit him as "Dang Chi Fung" and I think it would be more appropriate to have him credited in the DB under his most commonly used name (per our guidelines). Of course, if this is agreed upon, once it is changed I will additionally amend his aliases per the below. :)

As some folk are sticklers for supporting evidence to be shown with every tiny change herein, the below is my supporting evidence (grabbed from the screen credits of each film as listed):

DRAGON LOADED (2003)

SEX AND THE BEAUTIES (2004) - the only time he is billed per his actual name, Tang

SUPER MODEL (2004)

MY SWEETIE (2004)

THE WHITE DRAGON (2004) - a Mainland co-production, hence the different credit (and to distinguish him from the other Patrick Tang)

DRAGON RELOADED (2005)

If he were here, I'm sure Patrick would thank you for your vote! :D

I do not object. If you want to change it, please wait 15 days first.

Haha, I've only just realised...the SEX & THE BEAUTIES credit is the other Patrick Tang! The shame, the shame...:P

No worries -- twelve days and counting. :)

Well, over a month has passed, and now there are new guidelines in place. What would everyone like me to do with this (suggested alteration) in light of the recent changes? :?

This seems like a grey area.

If someone has a Chinese name, then the primary romanised name (the top name on the English display page) should follow the Christian Family Given-given (i.e., Andy LAU Tak-Wah) format, and their commonly credited English name (i.e., Andy Lau) would go into the alias field, and/or the upcoming English Name field.

However, I think in a case where someone, although they have a Chinese name, is always credited in English and literally never in Chinese (or Romanised Chinese)...well, that's a much tougher call. In general, I would say follow the guidelines, and then failing that use your editor's discretion.

"POINT 1: Romanizations. We should use the most common romanization in english credits. It can be in english, mandarin, cantonese, whatever... "

In this case there is not exact "romanization" but "whatever".

Yes, I like these rules!
