Lobby cards as poster images ?

I'd like to canvass opinions on this.

I'm in the process of uploading pictures of lobby cards as images.

Assuming the movie has no poster images (or any images for that matter), should the lobby card be set as the poster image ?

I think any sort of formal or official advertisement is good if there is no poster available

I think lobby cards are fine, as are VCD or DVD covers, flyers, program guides. It's good to have a graphic element to give a better sense of the movie beyond just the credits.

I agree - my recent conclusion was that every film should have a poster image of *some* form, even if it's just a screen capture of the title card. Lobby cards are a great option :)

Just make sure that when they are uploaded the "suitable as a poster" attribute is checked.

May I ask about how the "suitable as a poster" attribute is going to be used and how it is different from "set this movie's poster" function? Will using the second function automatically set the first attribute?

I have covered this topic extensively both in the main forum and in the Editor's forum...which, as an Editor, I expect you to read.

The poster attribute will be used similar to the way the portrait attribute will be used: for displaying more that one poster at a time, or for displaying all posters for a movies at once (via a view posters link/button).

Setting the second attribute does not currently set the first, but I will be retroactively going through and setting the first attribute for anything that has the second set (as per MrBooth's suggestion).

Soon, however, I will be removing the second attribute altogether as the display pages will automatically display all "poster" images (or a subset thereof, depending on the total number of images for a film).
