The earlier Shaw campaigns that you will find in Southern Screen will associate 'Beauties of Beauties' with a trilogy of thse grandoise films that include:

'Magnificent Concubine aka Princess Yang Kwei Fei'
'Empress Wu Tien' and
'Beyond the Great Wall'

I am not 100% sure but the 'Beauties of Beauties' title may be only that, a moniker for that earlier ad campaign.

Director Li later filmed 'Hsi Shih' outside of the Shaw system with his own production company in Taiwan. Personally I am unaware if 'Beauties of Beauties' was attached to that particular film though.

Kenichiku is correct. Beauty of Beauties/Xi Shi was made in Taiwan after Li Han Hsiang left Shaws in the early '60s. He started his own studio and made a few good but unprofitable films before returning to Shaws. Stephen Teo's book has a few pages on this. It's also mentioned in HKFA's The Cathay Story. It is also described as a two-part film in Teo's book and the HKFA database (but only 145 minutes)

Xi Shi is one of the classical Four Beauties, the others are Diau Charn, Yang Kwan Fei and Wang Zhaojun (The Great Wall) and Li Han Hsiang made a film about all four, though only 3 for Shaws. The original idea was to film all four for Shaws but then he left for Taiwan and made the last one there. Can't remember where I read it, though.
