As you will see, there are quite a number of changes for this one, inclusive of a secondary screenwriter not previously listed.

















Now, on to the cast listing in the database entry: Phillip Kwok does NOT appear in the film, nor does "Goo Ga Lau" (actually, neither do David Chan or Tin Sam Fat for that matter, whoever they might be)...however, Josephine Koo does (per below frame grab) and is a major character in the film. Next to Cheng is the other major player not creditted - Peter Lai

Ruth Winona Tao - Fang Yin (in the subtitles; "Fong Yan" on the audio)
David Ng - Ma Kuang Shen
Josephine Koo - Lei Sha
Peter Lai - Chen Chi

Chikako Aoyama's character also has a name, but that's going to take a bit more work to go back through the DVD and find it, as it was only referenced once (from memory).



And while I'm at, who's this chap? I know I should know him, and have seen his face dozens of times before...but for some reason I can't place him and it's starting to bug me!

It is funny, Mr. Ciakmull posted in June the credits screenshots of an earlier version of this movie, "The Dunce Bumps into a Ghost" (1957).

Added 1 prod. company, prod. managers, assist. directors, 1 writer, visual consultant, art dir., chief editor, makeup, props, sound rec., sound ed. and 3 actors (maybe Siu Leung is the actor you search) and your roles.

If nobody stops me in 15 days I will remove Philip Kwok, but not Goo Ga Lau, David Chan and Tin Sam Fat, maybe they are uncredited cameos...

Looking at those credits, as they appear in the database, I was thinking that obviously someone mistook Goo Ga Lau (Koo Kar Lau) for Josephine Koo Mei Wah. Because if Koo Kar Lau (Carroll Gordon) is definitely the actress in the pictures from THE FUNNY TRIPLE on her page, then she's not in this movie. The film is such a small ensemble piece that the primary actors engage the film's only major characters, and Tony Leung is virtually the only one who would qualify as a cameo (he has maybe two or three very short scenes with only a few lines).

Per David Chan and Tin Sum Fat, though I am confident that they're not in this film they have been creditted in production crew capacities for Fruit Chan's successive films after this one -- maybe someone misidentified them from the crew lisitings originally? It wasn't uncommon, in the past, for folk to see familiar characters in the Chinese credits and assume they were cast members (even though their production role was listed differently) and include them as such.

Yes, the actor is Robert Siu...thanks kindly for that (can complete my review now)!
