Midnight Girls (1985): Updates/modifications

Postby Mike Thomason » Fri Nov 04, 2005 10:46 am

Per David Lai's MIDNIGHT GIRLS (1985):

http://www.hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mht ... ay_set=eng

This should clear up some of the errors in the entry, as well as add an English name (which she was commonly creditted under) for one of the cast members. Apologies about the quality of the end credits images; this is as they appear onscreen and can be attributable to the age of the film.

Hope this helps in some small way,

of course it helped very much.

Added chinese title alias, english title alias, 1 prod. company, pres., prod., prod. manager, planner, assist. directors, 1 writer more, orig. story, 1 editor (I think the other film editor in our Db is... false!!! ), costumes, gaffer, makeup, hairdresser, and 10 actors more.

A couple of silly questions...

"Jon Au Wa Hon" as writer...I can't seem to match up his name against any of the Chinese characters in the screen credits...or am I just missing him?

Could "Faan Gung Ming(1)" be a mistake for "Fan Kung Ming"? There is only one entry in the database for "Faan Gung Ming(1)" and that's for MIDNIGHT GIRLS. I think "Faan Gung Ming" is most likely an error (as the entry is more someone's phonetic pronunciation of "Fan Kung Ming"), as you say, and since there's only one editor listed in the screen credits it would probably be wise to remove the older entry to tidy things up. :)

Maybe Jon Au Wa Hon was the writer or co-writer of a possible re-edition of this movie ("Zu: Warriors From Magic Mountain" has 2 different screenwriters depending of the version), I do not know, this is very strange... :?

But Faan Gung Ming (1) is even stranger... why create a film editor with the correct english name and false chinese characters?

I will wait the editor who first added this movie to the Db clarify this topic.

Could be waiting a long time.
This one was probably added ages ago, and perhaps the editor is no longer active.

Better to discuss and sort it out now.

OK, if nobody stops me in 15 days I will remove Faan Gung Ming (1)

I do not dare touch Jon Au. If anyone wants...
