A good time to correct one of my original and long-standing slightly-misleading entries.
I've changed Wu Fung (id=2154)'s primary name to Woo Fung (2) ... and in the process, moved Woo Fung (1)'s 1993 movie credit (for Small Potato) to Woo Fung (2).

Editors : PLEASE be careful when adding Woo Fung to add Woo Fung (2), unless you are absolutely sure it is the older actor. Woo Fung is one of HK's very busy actors, and probably has quite a few roles still to be documented here.

Suggestion : Would it be too confusing to switch the numbers ?
I generally follow the convention of numbering people of the same names with earliest movie credit gets #1, next gets #2 etc, but it may be useful/expeditious to reverse the order in this case.

I am aginst switching numbers, except in very unusual cases. There are quite a few names I credit without checking each time to see if they have changed since last time. Imagine what a mess would ensue if an earlier Guk Fung were added to the DB, and "Guk Fung (1)" suddenly applied to someone else.

Guk Fung (1) is now Ku Feng btw

(Guk Fung (1) is an alias though)

Not really a bug issue, but he is almost always credited as "Woo Fung", when there are any English credits.

I'm guessing these are older '70s era films? I have to admit I prefer Wu Fung. Maybe I can persuade you to reconsider? No (1)/(2) to contend with and conforms to more recent HKFA and HKIFF publications.

I prefer Wu Fung too... can't remember which I've seen on screen most, but I've always known him as "Wu Fung" in my head (probably thanks to hkmdb!)

Yes, and that's what I'm concerned about.
It was a change I made early on, and a number of users now seem to have gotten used to it.
Most of the films I've seen the great Woo in are from the '80s and '90s.

I have no objection to changing back, if there is popular acclaim for the idea. It (Wu Fung) does have the advantage of being distinctive, but if is also not quite correct, in my experience.

My vote is Wu Fung too.
I think the "Golden Era" of this actor was in the 60s and 70s ... and I think he was credited as Wu or Hu during those years.

Okay, popular acclaim for the 60s and 70s wins the day. I've changed Woo Fung (2) back to Wu Fung.

And in order to reduce future confusion, I have changed Woo Fung (1)'s primary name to Hu Chia, which would have been the appropriate credits for HK in the 1950s. Any probs ?

Also just realized that Wu Kar/Molly Wu should be merged with Hu Chia. She has an assortment of aliases listed at the HKFA.
