Fong Ho is not Godfrey Ho

In the entry for Fong Ho
http://www.hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mht ... ay_set=eng
it is stated that the name is an alias for Godfrey Ho
http://www.hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mht ... ay_set=eng
and under Godfrey Ho, it is stated that Fong Ho is an alias.

That is incorrect. I have seen from several sources that Fong Ho is a completely different director. If nobody objects, I will delete that alias note in one week, and shift the credits of "Miraculous Flower" and "Imperial Sword, Crouching Devi" to Fong Ho.

Can you quote some of those sources, Bruce ?
I recall seeing more than one source which said he was.

Also, "The Deadly Sword", "Miraculous Flower", and "Imperial Sword, Crouching Devil" are Taiwan Wuxia films, very different from the kind of film that Godfrey Ho was involved with. The same goes for that Taiwan romance film directed by Fong Ho, which is not in the HKMDB:

During the time those films were made, Godfrey Ho was working for Asso Asia.

The Godfrey Ho credits in the HKMDB will probably never be cleaned up satisfactorily. Most of the films credited in the HKMDB as having been directed by Godfrey Ho between 1977-1985 were actually re-edited Korean films, with Godfrey Ho newly given directorial "credit" (even though he was not involved with the original films).

But let's at least credit Fong Ho correctly.

Excellent detective work as usual, Bruce.

Yes, this would be one right can of worms.
There is a website somewhere which attempts to document Godfrey Ho's film credits. Of course, it does so with pinches of salt by the kilo.
Even if it were possible to get a full list of films rightly or just claimed to be directed by the inimitable Godfrey, we'd have great fun documenting them.

For a start, we'd need new data types - "alleged director" and "true director", perhaps ?

Could be one unreal nightmare.
