Try THREE. ;)

There is the original Crystal Kwok, from DRAGONS FOREVER, and then there's the new one (much like the "new" Maggie Cheung -- Maggie Cheung Ho Yi) from EXPLOSIVE CITY, who is unrelated.

The Crystal Lui from the other indie films is someone else entirely again. Of course, whether anyone chooses to believe the fact without (immediate) physical proof is another story...

I'm suspicious mostly because the new Crystals are both "Kwok Wai"s... Crystal Lui Kwok-Wai and Crystal Kwok-Wai. Seems like an odd coincidence?

Not really...I have films with all three of them on DVD here, and I'm rather certain that they're all different people. Lui and Crystal Kwok from this century are most definitely different people...but I presently don't have the time to fish out DVDs and do screen-grabs just to justify myself, sorry. If I get any free time over the next three days, I'll do the deed and post a pic or two for comparison...:)

Mind you, if Zeny Kwok and Katie Kwok (who I have since had confirmed are the same person), can be attributed as two different people, even when photographic evidence is/was supplied, what's another mistake or two on the site? It's not like Chinese people, most particularly entertainers, don't change their names to improve their luck...;)

NB: What you also have to take into account is the way in which "Kwok" is written per both actresses -- you'll notice they're quite different characters, with one containing the same "Kwok" character as Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing, and the other with the same character as contained in Aaron Kwok Fu Sing. Closest English comparative I can think of, off the top of my head, is the English surnames "Brooks" and "Brookes" -- though pronounced the same, they're written differently and one is seldom related to the other. Not forgetting that there have been insurmountable instances of "one-off" apprearances by actors/actresses in HK movies - one movie under their belt, then gone! We're dealing with a language that has over 200+ fixed characters as its basic alphabet, unlike English which only has 26. And HK cinema is not nearly as incestuous as some people make it out to be...:)

It's alright, I believe you! Though pics of both actresses to add to their pages would of course be appreciated :) Where did the Katy/Zeny confirmation come from btw?

My inclination is usually to suspect two people are the same person, whilst other editors are inclined to suspect the reverse - we all keep each other in check that way :p

I'm notoriously bad with IDs, but I have to agree - the high cheekbones are pretty prominent on both women :?

I stand corrected! Shows you exactly how much notice I took of EXPLOSIVE CITY when I watched it, as I was mistaking Lui for someone else...

The Zeny/Katie thing? Someone* from Emperor FINALLY got back to me ages ago, but I must have been washing my hair or something that week and never got around to coming back and posting anything.

Btw, glad to see there are people here with the time to do the frame grabs and things! It sure makes short work of the mistakes I make...:)
