Excellent, thanks! Uploaded them all. I broke the long/thin one up into individual images, 'cause it wouldn't look very good as a thumbnail :)

non-film photos

Postby Casey » Sat Jul 09, 2005 11:11 am

Please add these photos to Stephen Chow's page. They are from the March edition of Cosmopolitan Magazine, Korean version.

The top picture is the one that People Magazine should have used for Stephen when they named him one of the "50 Hottest Bachelors".

All uploaded! I resaved the images at a lower jpg quality setting (9.0)... it makes no appreciable difference to the appearance of the image but gives much lower file sizes, which helps with Guilao's server space and bandwidth (and the bandwidth of anyone that views them!).

We now have 62 images for Mr Stephen Chow Sing-Chi!

Doh! All uploaded except the ones you added whilst I was doing it then ;)

I'll wait for Guilao to offer an opinion as to whether the magazine scans are acceptable, or might be a copyright violation.

magazine photos

Postby Casey » Sat Jul 09, 2005 1:57 pm

MrBooth, doesn't look line these 4 photos are copyrighted. They appeared on several sites:

http://en.chinabroadcast.cn/2246/2005-3-7/90@213868.htm

http://ent.yunnan.cn/1666/2005/03/07/59@198262.htm

Only 62 photos for Asia's biggest film star?!

Use your best judgement. I want to avoid anything to which someone holds a copyright--especially to something used directly for the purpose making money. Usually that means glamour or porn images. We really don't have much of that sort of thing here, nor do I want to start getting into the business of posting excessive nudity or explicit Cat III caps...lest this become a site of a different sort. We should also, in general, avoid magazine scans altogether.

Our images generally serve the purpose of helping us to identify people in their various roles over their career. Obviously, this site is a community-based non-commercial research and reference tool, and there is no profit or money involved. If someone is unhappy with the images we post, I will happily remove them post haste.

Films to be identified

Postby Casey » Sat Jul 09, 2005 9:48 pm

I'm a relatively new Stephen Chow fan, and don't yet have all of his films.

Here are some photos that I collected, but cannot match. The titles are probably on the pictures, but I am Chinese-challenged.

Those shots you think are from LUNG FONG RESTAURANT are indeed from that film. Just watched it a few weeks back.

Might have to work awhile on the others.

btw, where did you get these 2x2 photos from? I thought they were something you'd put together yourself... just worried that somebody out there might be upset if we've used their images without permission.

Got the rest (if you haven't already received this information from others:

Top group is TRIAD STORY

Next three sets are from JUST HEROES

Next two sets are LUNG FONG RESTAURANT

Next set is LAST CONFLICT (the one you've labelled "He Who Chases...?")

Next set is HE WHO CHASES AFTER THE WIND

Next set is LAST CONFLICT, again

Don't know the commercial shot.

MrBooth, I found those pictures on a Chinese BBS:

http://club.yule.sohu.com/read-movie-309369-0-58.html

Have no way of knowing if the person who posted them created them.

I would hope that the creator of those 2x2's would be flattered to have them included in HKMDB's galleries. :)

Yeah, I imagine you're right :)

Website owners can get a bit touchy about people taking images from their sites without permission though!

First of all, Brian, thank you so much for your help in identifying those images. Two or three of those films are out of print, so I have to keep watching ebay to see if I can get them that way.
