Companies Golden Harvest, Shaw Bros., Milkyway and others had different chinese names during their history. So we cannot merge them.

Nowadays Golden Harvest changed its english name and its called "GH Pictures (China) Ltd."

I personally almost always add the companies as "production companies", because I do not know if they are filming, production or distribution companies... maybe other editors can give you their opinion.

I think it is better to wait to hear the opinion of the other editors... and the editor who input this film!!!!!!!

If the majority of editors agreed, we can merge these 2 companies.

If not, we can link them.

For merging to be effective, I really need to expand the database tables for company names to properly include aliases.

I will add this over the next week or so (along with several other changes I am making to the company tables), so don't merge them until I have completed this, and I announce it. Linking them is fine, however.

that's what i was saying, there's no way this film could be a golden harvest production in 1956 :!:

 In chinese, Golden Harvest (Fine standing grain) is pronounced "Jiahe".

Probably this is the confusion.

If nobody stops me in 15 days, I will change Golden Harvest for Jiahe only for this movie.

We apparently are having another communications breakdown.

The point here is Jiahe and Raymond Chow's Golden Harvest, other than maybe a partially common Chinese name, have nothing to do with each other, obviously. There was no Golden Harvest in 1956. What other movies were made by Jiahe? Whether it's one or many, we likely need to create a new company.

The second point is the two Golden Harvests in the DB, as chinchanchung points out, do indeed need to be merged. I am working on expanding the company databse tables.

Sorry! I did not express myself correctly. I said I would change Golden Harvest for Jiahe only for this movie, that is, I would create a new company called Jiahe and with this 1956 movie as only credit.

This does not altere the merging of Golden Harvest's companies.
