Hi Guilao,
For 2nd point, making hypen invisible during search is a must.
If we do not, shifting the name to alias wd not solve the problem.
During input of data, the search engine shd be the same as DB search.
Sometimes while inputting, the name is rejected as non existence even though a DB search throw up several names.
For sequence of presenting names, the HK romantized name shd always be because this is still an English website. Chinese character shd be 2nd because this website is for chinese movie. Visitors are generally english capable.
The HK romanatised name must be standardised to give a uniform presentation. We may even have to give Zhang zhiyi a hk name.
Many wd not agree with me but i feel that consistency in presentation in present style is more inportant than keeping to old styles. Eg shd we continue to use Lily Li Li-Li (the old style of translation) or Lily Lee Lai Lai (the present style) as first name in presentation?
Using both styles as first name in presentation give a messy look and create confusion.
My personal experience, when watching old movies with old taiwan style tranlsation, is that my mind auto switch to present style while ignoring the old style because i know i will never use them and it will not be used in present day movies. I just try to recognise, remember and match the datas in different styles. Even my personal database had been translate to a standardised hk romantised names base on a compilation of most commonly used translation. Eg He to Ho and not Hoh, Jian to Kin and not Gin, Guo to Kwok and not Gwok or Kok. The standardised HK names compilation is built up from many movies and magzines sources. It is far from complete.
Hope my two bits help. Thanks.
