According to the credits of the film,

1- KING HU is the only director of the movie.

2- TSUI HARK, TONY CHING and RAYMOND LEE are only executive directors (or "acting directors") 執行導演 of the movie.

3- ANN HUI and ANDREW KAM did not do nothing in the movie.

4- TONY CHING and LAU CHI HO were the only action directors of the movie, without YUEN WAH.

Mr. Bearserk sent me the irrefutable proof:

Sorry the picture quality is not good. :?

For the moment I only added the executive directors.

As I think this is a very controversial topic, I will wait 30 days before removing ANN HUI, ANDREW KAM and YUEN WAH.

I can't remember where

I know I read somewhere that Ann Hui and some other folks also took over some directing duties...but I do not recall where I read it...

Answer: Rosamund Kwan is not listed in the credits of this movie.

OK, I won't remove Hui and Kam, but... what must we do with Yuen Wah?

The credit situation for Swordsman is notoriously complex. Tsui Hark envisaged the film as a chance to pay back his idol, but during production he was unhappy with the way he was handling the film and King Hu walked off set. Apparently there is only one shot left in the film that was actually directed by King Hu, but I guess he was still given the director credit out of respect. The actual list of directors has been assembled from various interviews and conversations, I believe.

Yuen Wah mentions at one interview at the Hong Kong Legends-DVD of "Swordsman" that he was King Hu's action director for the movie. After King Hu left because of sickness Ching Siu Tung was the new action director.

Thank you, Mr. Pongpun, Mr. Contrai, Mr. Booth, and Mr. Kistner, I did not know that info. Now I understand it all. :)

I won't touch the credits.
