I think the date 2003 is (as you say) from the copyright, which usually appears in the final credits... that is, the film was finished in 2003 and released in January 2004.
I don't know which is the suitable date that must be input in the Db...

Sorry, I waited the editor who added this movie appeared and gave his explanation, but it seems he is on Christmas holidays.
