last days (THANK YOU), but
I think they have forgotten that the "HKMDb Suggesters" (sorry, I don't know how the Editors name us) have data suggestions from the 6 of August (following page) without adding.
At first I thought the Editors were busy with other things, but the last suggestions are fixed, so... maybe it's only an oblivion.

Also, I would like a lot that if an Editor can not add certain data, they answer us with a message telling us what is the problem.
For example:
- "I do not find the Big5 of that new name/title..."
- "I do not think your information be correct..."
- "I need more proofs of what you are telling..."
- "This name have 4 numberings and I don't know what is yours..."
- "I do not want to add 'art directors'..."
By this way the Suggesters could help us to find a solution in each particular case and thus relieve the work of the Editors.
Obviously this is only a SUGGESTION.
I do not try to be ironic. Please answer me something.
(Answering for myself only)
You raised some valid points. To respond in a roundabout manner:
First, keep in mind, the editors are volunteers. I don't know how many editors there are but note that Ryan has solicited for additional volunteers.
Keep in mind that the editors, for the most part, don't know each other except having crossed paths in other forums. It's not as though there is a room of editors in HKMDB assigned cubicles working on updates with Ryan cracking a whip behind us. And there's probably no uniform method for tackling suggestions. As in my paying job, I seldom am waiting for material to enter my inbox to decide what my next task will be. I'd actually rather be working on writing a review for the db of the movie I watched last night (not that there's a huge demand for it, but that's what _I_ want to spend my leisure time doing).
Myself, I've only been a vaunted 'Eddditor' for a few short months. Ideally, I'd like to be able to confirm any additions/changes I make. I don't always but it's a judgement call. Better to have reliable info or no info? Can it be corroborated or not? What if you get conflicting sources? I think in those cases, I've usually replied. If I went to the effort to research it, it's no big matter to relay the findings. Besides all that, my Chinese sucks. Thank goodness for computers, cut and paste and BabelFish. Screen grabs from film credits don't make it easy for me to research. On the other hand, maybe some of the other editors are more talented. So, why should I dissuade someone from screen grabs if that's what they want to do just because I personally can't deal with it? Another example, and I'm not trying to deride that person, someone regularly provided credits and roles in ALL CAPS. Well, instead of being able to cut-and-paste that info into the db, first I had to either retype it, or, use Word to reformat it. That's no fun. Suggestion: Do your part and try to make it easy for the editor to get your info in. Human nature dictates that the easy stuff gets done first.
My own priorities: If a film is completely missing, I'm more inclined to address that than, say, a co-producer credit. If I've seen the film, and thus, more likely to be able to confirm/research/remember it, I'm more likely to address it. My own interests: I have been watching a lot of b/w movies the last few years. So, I'm more likely to research that period if such an issue comes up. I've actually made changes/additions to the db that haven't been posted here but I decided I wanted to do myself. That's human nature. In fact, I became an editor because MrBooth got tired of my bugging him to update the credits for Sai Gwa Pau

, and others that I'm sure he had no interest in. Also human nature is to read the most recent messages first. That's why some of the more recent suggestions have been addressed and earlier ones not. I do go back and see if there are any unanswered suggestions that I choose to address only to discover someone else already made the changes w/o a reply (editors need to help editors, too). So, that's part of my own decision process.
Meanwhile, the world has to wait for my scintillating review of Lady With a Silver and Bitter Tongue.
