Lan Chi-Pat or Ching Chi-Ang?

Postby Fan » Mon Feb 19, 2007 1:12 pm

I wonder why the name in English of 靚次伯, this famous Cantonese opera actor, is Ching Chi-Ang. I won't preclude the possibility which he's once called that, but I'm more convinced he is officially "Lan Chi Pak". Based on the name of the school which his son established in the memorial of him -- Yan Chai Hospital Lan Chi Pak Memorial Secondary School and also this infomation from Film Programmes Office.

I also added an alias as well as the Mandarin pronunciation.

Despite what HKFA says, I have doubts as to whether his name was ever romanized to Liang Tsi-Pak. Whatever the case, he's properly covered for now with aliases.
