Probably because it's a THAI film, shot in Thailand by a Thai filmmaker (Pen-Ek Ratanaruang) and would better belong in Ryan's other project...

...or anywhere else other than the Hong Kong Movie DB...

NB: Please note the date also on the clapperboard: 2/4/48. The Thai calendar is based upon the birth of Buddha, not Christ, and thereby 543 years (the number of years before Christ Buddha was born) is added to the Christian calendar. Thus, 2548 = 2005, which is definitely when Pen-Ek Ratanaruang shot the film in Thailand and Macau. ;)

according to the IMDb is a Netherlands / Thailand / Hong Kong / South Korea co-production, co-produced by Winnie Lau and Miki Lee (HK) co-starring Eric Tsang (HK).

I hope very soon Mr. Guilao will post the new rules about co-productions in the HKMDB.

Ah...you throw that at me like I've never heard of Pen-Ek Ratanaruang or seen (and admire) any of his films. Pen-Ek is a THAI filmmaker, and all of his films are considered THAI in their nationality (because they are made in Thailand).

'tis funny you cite the oft-erroneous IMDB in an attempt to shoe-horn a Thai film into the DB, as the film's official website notes it as a co-production between Thailand and the Netherlands...

http://www.invisiblewaves.com/

...on the "Credits" page.

Anyway, do whatever you like! I think with the inclusion of innumerable entries in the DB, from countries other than Hong Kong (and largely to suit people's own personal tastes and whims), that the DB has sufficiently started to slide into a complete loss of focus...and is no longer a project I can be completely enthusiastic about being participant in.

From a recent Asian Film Market report:

"Invisible Waves, has been announced as Thailand's submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at next year's Academy Awards."

...and here I was expecting it to be Hong Kong's submission! Who would've thought, hey?
