DEVIL KILLER: DB Cast/Credits/TITLE CHANGE/+ID me

Another cut-rate shot-on-video true crime thriller, but with a twist: the title in the database, DEVIL KILLER ( http://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=11349&display_set=eng ) matches the title on the sleeve, but the title on the actual film is DEVIL BUTCHER.

Either DEVIL BUTCHER can be added as an alias, or it can be the actual DB entry title, with DEVIL KILLER becoming the alias.

By the way, my DVD sleeve rates this movie Category III, but it is NOT a Category III movie. They probably stuck the rating on, not to mention the nude shot of Grace Lam on the sleeve, to perk up sales, since they knew the film wasn't gonna perk up anything else. No violence, no gore, no nudity, one brief from-behind shot of a girl in panties is as hard as this one gets, folks. Thus, I'm posting it outside the Cat. III forum.

Now, on to the pictures, which include some newspaper headlines I'm hoping someone might be able to translate (paging Fan, paging Fan!!) because they look real and, since the film is unsubtitles, might help me figure out which case it's actually about.

incidentally, if you're wondering why all five people appear to be addressing the camera in the photos above, it's because the last five minutes of the movie itself (NOT a special feature) feature these five apparently ruminating on the case they've just reenacted on screen. Odd, that.

Now for the translation portion of our movie. This is where I'm hoping Fan, or anyone else who is fluent, can give me an idea of what these newspapers say, in spite of the filmmakers' odd framing. The pictures are fairly self-explanatory, but I'm just curious.

These stills can be added to the DB as I think they might enhance the viewing experience, even on a piece of junk like this.

And finally, just to show the ingenuity of people who make movies with no money, here are some scenes of cast members (and possibly crew members) asking REAL PEOPLE WALKING BY if they recognize the girl in the photograph. No need to ID these folks, as I doubt they were even asked to sign a release!

Sometimes, it's hard to believe that certain filmmakers are interesting in producing this kind of movie within this short of period after the case.

About the first 3 newspaper cuttings, they tell how the killer hid the victims' bodies and policemen & firemen discovered them. They also describes the brutal treatment done to the victims, so Brian, if you want it, I'll PM you but actually for certain vocabularies, I need to look up too.

Will US filmmakers interest in making a movie about JonBenet Ramsey soon after the case closed?

If they didn't think about it in the weeks after she was killed, I'm sure they they're thinking about it now.

But it does seem like Hong Kong has the fastest turnaround time of just about any film industry for turning lurid crimes into lurid movies! Of course, DEVIL BUTCHER doesn't exploit the lurid elements of the story the way filmmakers would have in the early 1990's (this is probably a good thing, when you consider the victims). It's just dull.
