The rationale is that I never have seen in the credits of a movie "Chan Jeung Wa", for example. I have seen always "Chen Chi Hwa" or similar.

I bet 2,000,000 dollars you will never see "Chan Jeung Wa" written on the credits of any movie... but that is the main name we have written on our Db. Why? Because this is the name which gives us the program when you write the symbols.

And I bet 5,000,000 dollars you will never see "Jue Yin Ping" in the credits of a movie.

One is Cantonese romanisation and one is Mandarin.

This is another flame-bait discussion over which romanisation should be the "main" credit. I argue that ultimately it should be neither...but rather the Big5 with everything else an alias. And in fact, that's what it will become.

Yep, but since Ku Feng was in so many Shaws films I've always seen him in credits and converstations as Ku Feng, never Guk Fung. It doesn't really matter since the aliases are in there, but I always thought Ku Feng was a classy sounding name that suited his persona and Guk Fung was not

Yes, that's how it will look with the current English name becoming a "primary alias."

Eventually, the whole site will in Big5 (or Unicode), and for the purpose of names and credits, Big5 along with the primary romanization will appear--even on the "English" page.

This changes little for editing purposes, but will be reflected in how pages are displayed. The motivation being to remove the concept of "correct romanization" versus "most-commonly credited romanization" and respecting names properly. Editors should still be thinking in the same terms (as above) with respect to names and credits, etc.
