Huang Ha alias

Postby MrBooth » Wed May 14, 2003 7:13 pm

Hey,

Discussion over at the Asian DVD Guide forums suggests that Wong Gwong/Kwong is not a valid alias for Huang Ha:

http://www.hkmdb.com/db/people/view.mhtml?id=6061&display_set=eng

Is this a case of mistaken identity, or has he been referred to as Wong Kwong somewhere along the line. Presumably somebody thought so, so the main question is "Is it worth deleting it?".

Beats me :)

Wong Gwong is the Canto name. Huang Ha is the Mandarin name. Off memory, I cannot even think of 1 movie where the Canto name was used. I've seen the Mandarin name used more often. Wong Gwong is definately not an alias, but it is his Canto name. I don't know who did it, but the Canto name was put down as alias to better the search. Unless you are searching under big5, you would not get the Cantonese name b/c the search only picks up the Alias and the main name.

Silver Fox
