RIP Lee Doo-yong + a few MA Dir credits

Sadly on the 19th of January 2024, Korean director Lee Doo-yong died of lung cancer. Though his name might not be very familiar to many HK fans, he was instrumental in launching the careers of many of Korea's greatest action stars, many of which will be familiar, to name a few: Charles Han Yong-cheol; Best Kwon Yeong-moon; Richard Nam Choong-il; Kwon Il-soo; Jeong Jin-hwa (aka Elton Chong); Park Hui-jin; Hwang Choon-soo and his brother (no doubt the most famous) Hwang Jeong-ri. He is a great loss to the industry.

This first came to my attention when my mate informed me of the completion of his article on the Korean martial arts film industry. I think it does a great job covering the different eras very well and even getting into the politics behind it. I think it’ll be a very valuable information piece for those new to the Korean films or with just a little knowledge as it’s very difficult to find anything on them, even now and especially outside of Korea.
