Company Merge Candidate: Chen Ta Film Co., Ltd.

Postby Chen Hung Lieh » Sun Feb 27, 2022 11:52 am

Another merge candidate:
https://hkmdb.com/db/companies/view.mht ... ay_set=eng
https://hkmdb.com/db/companies/view.mht ... ay_set=eng

One is misspelled 逹 instead of 達 (as the image proves), the other is misspelled "Cheng" instead of "Chen" (wade giles).

Merge suggestion:
振達影業有限公司
Chen Ta Film Co., Ltd.

'Cheng' is not a mistake - that was the English name used in Memory of the Melody at An-ping. What is the source for the 'Chen' name?

Alright then. I am going to change it back to Cheng and add Chen as an alias....because Chen is obviously orthographically correct in the context of the Wade-Giles. Unfortunately, it's common with Taiwan being fast and loose with mixing formal orthographies. But our first priority here is to use "as credited" romanizations, even if "incorrect". In the absence of sources, we should use an appropriate romanization.

If someone has a print of The Pistol Grabber, can you see if there is a romanized name for the production company and let me know.

OK, thanks yukabacera.
I didn't have english credits for "Memory", so I just chose the correct Wade Giles variant which was already the name in the Pistol Grabber entry.

I have only IFD credits for Pistol Grabber. And some sheets of an old movie magazine saying a different production company, don't know how reliable that is (浩天影業公司).
