Elsie Chan must something of the most adorable ever put in front of a camera. Anyone know why she quit? Did she get married or something and decided that she no longer would like to act?

Anyone know why she quit?

According to a HKcinemagic bio she moved with her mother to do some sort of business in China. And the babelfish-translation than follows "it succeeds in being involved in debt to the neck due to doubtful financial transactions".

Hong Kong media sources have reported that former Miss Asia Elsie Chan Yik-si and her former boyfriend swindled 350 million yuan, or about 44 million US dollars, from the Agricultural Bank of China in the 1990s.

Elsie Chan Yik-si and her former boyfriend first concealed their purchase, at a price of 150 million yuan, of a natural reserve that couldn’t be used for development purposes. Then, the couple sold it for 510 million yuan to their business partner, the Hong Kong branch of the Agricultural Bank, by convincing the bank the land had development potential.

The Supreme Court of Hong Kong ruled that, in addition to the bank's direct economic losses, amounting to around 350 million yuan, Elsie Chan Yik-si must pay a great deal of interest compiled on the dishonest transaction. The former Miss Asia has been ordered to pay a total of 770 million yuan to the Agricultural Bank of China.

To bad, and she who looked so innocent, I really liked watching her in movies, just seems to show that looks can be deceiving :?

So if my crummy math skills are not failing me, she was ordered to pay about . . . U.S. $90 million+ to the Agricultural Bank of China? Ouch. If that's ture, and if she was a government official, they probably would have executed her instead. Maybe the judges thought she was cute too!
