That makes two of us who've actually seen this movie now!
The producers of this, Billy and Tommy Chung, and sometimes Francis Nam (who co-directed this), seemed to have a little Malaysian cottage industry of DTV remakes going for a while in the 90's. Besides this, their HIGH TENSION CRIME (with Ng Shui-ting, who's also in TWO FACES) was a direct rip of THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE, only minus any overt religious elements

and their IMAGE SEARCH, with Mark Cheng and Wong Yat Fei (again!), lifted liberally from SHATTERED. I suspect they made others, but I just haven't got around to them yet!

Nam also ripped RUN LOLA RUN for RANSOM EXPRESS.
Nice to finally have a gallery for this one. Compared to the source material, it can't hold a candle, but on it's own, I didn't find it too offensive. There's a certain level of quality that these guys establish in all of these productions - kind of a low-end TV movie look (Chinese TV, of course!), which I think is acceptable for these shot-on-video productions, and preferable to some of the sloppy camerawork and home video production values that plague titles only a couple more rungs down the ladder. Plus, ripping off superior movies still gives the actors
something a little better to work with compared to some of the other junk being thrown their way at the time.

Still, I wouldn't give it high marks . . .
