Beloved Malaysian-born Chinese film and TV actress famously known for her HK action films and performing her own stunts a la Jackie Chan.

At the age of 15, she moved with her parents to the United Kingdom, where she was enrolled in a boarding school. Yeoh later studied at the UK's Royal Academy of Dance in London, majoring in ballet.

In 1983, at the age of 20, Yeoh won the Miss Malaysia beauty pageant, and was discovered when she appeared in a commercial with Jackie Chan.

Yeoh was signed to the fledgling film production company D&B films in 1987, and subsequently married the co-founder of that company - Dickson Poon. Yeoh retired from acting for a few years but returned to acting with Police Story 3: Super Cop (1992) after divorcing Poon.

Yeoh went on to star in the Bond Film "Tomorrow Never Does" in 1997.

Yeoh was then recruited by Ang Lee to star in a leading role as Yu Shu Lien in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). The film was an international success, won dozens of awards (including multiple BAFTA and Academy Awards) and was a watershed film for the rediscovery of Chinese cinema to the world. Yeoh was nominated for a BAFTA Best Actress in a Leading Role award.
